Front Mission History is a compilation of the first three Front Mission games (Front Mission 1st, Front Mission 2 & Front Mission 3).

The Canyon Crow 15th Armored Unit was a mercenary force which valiantly fought on the side of the Oceania Community Union (OCU) against the United States of the New Continent (USN) in the original Front Mission games. To initiate a new generation of gamers in the Huffman Wars, Square digs into the past and collects all three Front Mission games and throws in a trio of Wanzer mech figures to create a special Front Mission History box set which will be limited to 20,000 units. Priced at Y9800. The version of Front Mission included in the bundle is the updated Front Mission First which is available separately by its lonesome.

1 - FRONT MISSION 1ST
Originally released in 1995 on the Super Famicom, Square revisits their 16-bit heyday and updates Front Mission for a new legion of fans. Played on isometric grids, various mecha from your Canyon Crow attack squad are arrayed against opposing armies. Move, encounter and fight are the generics of the game but weapon and armor upgrades also factor in the game where your crew gets upgraded to higher levels of performance.

The menus, stats, and weapon upgrades in the game are entirely in English which makes Front Mission very easy to get into for importers. The storyline and conversations are in Japanese but the scrolling account after the first battle tells of the new conflict between the OCU (Southern Asia Oceana Community Union) and the USN (United States of New Continent).

STORY:
Set in 2090, the story of Front Mission takes place on Huffman Island, a fictional Pacific Ocean island roughly the size of Oahu, created by volcanic activity south of Mexico's west coast in 1995. In 2002, the land mass was classified as an island, and was ceded to United Nations control. However, in 2020, the United States of the New Continent (USN), a unification of North American and South American countries, made a bid for control of the island after withdrawing from the United Nations.

The Oceania Cooperative Union (OCU), an alliance of Oriental Asian nations and Australia that was created in 2025, dispute this claim when the two superpowers colonized the island in 2065. The tensions heat up and eventually lead to the 1st Huffman Conflict in 2070, with Huffman Island being divided into two halves at the end of the war. An uneasy peace is maintained until the Huffman Crisis in 2086, when a series of skirmishes across the island causes chaos. Tensions flare up and end in war when the OCU is blamed for inciting the Larcus Incident on June 3, 2090.

The plot of Front Mission revolves around OCU captain Royd Clive. An OCU reconnaissance platoon led by Royd is assigned to investigate a USN munitions plant in the Larcus District, located on eastern Huffman Island. Upon reaching the premises, the platoon is ambushed by USN wanzers led by an officer named Driscoll.

2 - FRONT MISSION 2
Front Mission 2 is a tactical role-playing game for the Sony PlayStation developed and published by Square and released in Japan. It is the second game in the main Front Mission storyline.

According to the series' public relations manager Koichiro Sakamoto, the game was never released outside of Japan due to the presence of situations and vocabulary which would be considered faux pas in North America.

Front Mission 2's gameplay has many similarities with Front Mission. This is likely because the game retains the core foundation seen in Front Mission. This does not mean the game is an exact copy of Front Mission. Numerous changes are noticeable in Front Mission 2. First, more weapons now have range as opposed to being limited to merely missile and grenade launchers. Second, terrain (known as Geo) affects conditions such as Accuracy and the ability to successfully counterattack. Another noticeable change is how all weapons now have ammunition, with the exception being Fight-class weapons. The most noticeable changes are the Action Point(AP) and Honor system.

Set in O.C.U. Alordesh (modern-day Bangladesh) during June 2102, Front Mission 2 is the story of Oceania Cooperative Union (O.C.U.) soldier Ash Faruk and officer Lisa Stanley. During one night, Ash and his outfit, the Muddy Otters, are caught off-guard when the Alordesh Army revolts against the O.C.U. Barely escaping the assault at the Rimian Naval Base, the Muddy Otters are forced to escape from the coup d'etat forces. As the Muddy Otters link up with surviving O.C.U. outfits, the O.C.U. sends in an expeditionary force to help reclaim control of the nation. Around this time, the O.C.U. Intelligence Agency sends in Lisa Stanley and her unit to analyze the Alordesh Army's movements to help the regular army in their efforts.

3 - FRONT MISSION 3
After numerous wars and terrorist attacks, Yokosuka had finally entered a state of peace; it would last only 10 short years. A deadly explosion rocked the continent, disrupting peace and causing a worldwide panic.

As test pilots for Kirishima Industries, Kazuki Takemura and his best friend Ryogo Kusama were ordered to deliver newly developed Wanzer robots (mechanized war machines) to the Japanese Defense Force Base. En route to their destination, they witnessed the massive explosion. Fearing that Alisa (Kazuki's sister) was in the explosion, he and Ryogo met up with a scientist named Emma to investigate the explosion.

Upon investigation, Kazuki's sister was nowhere to be found.

What they found, however, is that a worldwide conspiracy is being devised to withhold information about the explosion; information regarding motives and newly developed plots to seize power within Yokosuka. With an undying vow to find Alisa, Kazuki and his friends formed a rebellious allegiance against the powers that be!

As the third release of a well-established series in Japan, Front Mission 3 is an epic turn-based strategy/RPG outlining the agony of war and the art of betrayal. While the focus of the overlaying storyline may be the rebellion side of things, the game has a Double Scenario feature that allows players to play two dynamically different sides throughout the duration of play. While one scenario would have you defending the Kamariya Junction, the other would have you destroying it. Scenarios change depending on your actions and the choices you make.

Front Mission 3 features a complex battle system broken into Battle Skills, a Discharge Battle, and the Battle Ranking. With a whopping total of 100, Battle Skills are specialized Wanzer actions that increase a character's performance in any given battle. Featuring customizable legs, arms, and body parts, the robots will learn new combinations and attacks upon upgrade; if you've got a Tiandong 3 arm part, the Wanzer will learn an Eject Punch.
