Menus and gameplay are in Japanese (Voices in English).

As the game itself comes shipped with some kind of electronic plectron you can connect to your parallel-port (it's called the "V-Pic" in the game) it's your mission to become a virtual guitar-hero.

After a few training lessons in your private room to get used to the game's interface (at the bottom of the screen is some kind of rhythm indicator that's similar to karaoke-systems. There's a red bar constantly moving from the left to the right end of the screen while in the background is a "rhythm-scale" - When the bar is moving over a peak from that scale you got to use your plectron on e.g. your tennis-racket so that virtually a guitar-riff is generated. the better and more exactly you can match the predrawn rhythm scale the better your guitar playing will sound and the higher your score is to proceed to further levels of the game).

The ultimate goal of the game is to reach the final level. To finally start a virtual concert with Aerosmith in a crowded football-stadium.

Although the above description might sound a bit complicated the game soon catches even unmusical people's attention by its very own and unique gameplay.

Quest for Fame - Be a Virtual Rock Legend was released for PC in 1995 and for Playstation in 1997. Quest for Fame features music from rock band Aerosmith and casts players in the role of an aspiring guitar player whose dream is to make it to the top.

The outcome of the game is determined by the player's ability as judged by a cast of animated characters. If you're good, you'll play in front of thousands of screaming fans, if you're bad, you'll play at the low-class Polyester Lounge.

  Manufacturer's description:

Live the Dream.

All right, hot shot, this is your lucky break. Your chance to go from being a no-name, rock 'n roll wannabe, to the real deal... a guitar legend who plays sold-out concert along with Aerosmith. So jump on it now. This is your quest for fame -- your one-way ticket to the top.

The Road to Stardom Ain't Easy Street.

Overnight success only happens in fairy tales. Making it big here will take guts and passion. You'll practice, start a garage band, then work your way up through roadhouse dives and smokey, late night blues clues. Take your act up a level, try your hand in the studio, and if you cut it, you'll get a shot at playing along with Aerosmith in front of 100.000 screaming fans. It's the rush of a lifetime -- a rare glimpse of life on the road with America's number one band.
