Menus and gameplay are in Japanese.

The Unsolved is a Japan-only video game release for the Sega Saturn and Sony PlayStation. It is a cinematic text adventure in which players assume the role of a city detective who must solve the bizarre murders of women in the area that may be linked to the existence of intelligent alien life on Earth. The game used live English actors for the characters and still photos to visually tell the story. The story was written by Akio Aska while the movie parts were directed by Brian Yuzna.

The game starts with a hooker found dead in the back streets of down town L.A. The detective find out that she had her internal organs ripped out through the anus while she was still alive. The player actually gets to see the massive hole where her anus should be as well as a look into the hollow body. What could have done this?

The gameplay in the game is like in most visual novels since the player can only choose between different answers in some parts of the game, and that will advance the story in a way or another.

The game features English voice acting with japanese subtitles and menus.
