An update of the arcade classic Robotron, Robotron X for the PlayStation adds a 3D environment, multiple perspectives, new music and sound effects, and larger characters to what is essentially the same game.

As in the original, you are a genetically enhanced man in the year 2084, shooting scores of Robotrons, a species of manmade (apparently fascist) robots who have decided that human beings are imperfect and must be destroyed. Your mission is to protect the last family, thereby saving humankind from extinction. The odds are against you, though, as wave after wave of giant robots and other dangerous objects come at you without ceasing from all sides of the square play field.

You can run and shoot any direction as you desperately fight for your life, while trying to rid the screen of the evil Robotrons and rescue the humans from their terrible fate. Once the screen is clear, you move on to the next level and a fresh wave of your enemies attacks, leaving you running and shooting for your life.
