Konami's Bemani games are blazing a trail and Jaleco is trying their darndest to mimic the success of rhythm 'n action gold. Dream Audition plays similarly to a karaoke game and lets the home based crooner try out for the next big boy band or gal band. If you're really ambitious, perhaps you'll put Britney to the test.

Dream Audition is a port of a arcade game and requires your sweetest singing voice as you clobber your way through Japan's top pop tracks and the Japanese musical lyrics written in hiragana and katakana.

The selection of music in Dream Audition is actually pretty impressive Jaleco has licensed recent tunes from Utada Hikaru and Morning Musume, among others (and songs as the theme song from My Neighbor Totoro, and "Cha-la Head-cha-la" from Dragon Ball and in order to save space, the music is entirely synthesized

Tere are several game modes: (Story, Karaoke & Audition are not avaliables at the beginning of the game)
- Arcade Mode: you select a song from a list of over one hundred tunes and Dream Audition judges your performance based on your vocal tones. This means that you don't actually have to sing the proper lyrics, as long as you know how the tune goes.

- Key Mode" is especially evil ¿ it transposes the song's key multiple times throughout the course of the song, forcing you to swap from the key of C to the key of D-flat mid-lyric

- Karaoke Mode: lets you sing to your heart's content without a scoreboard to worry about.

- Story Mode: is one of th new ps2 modes where you follow a pigtailed schoolgirl and her band on the road to high-grossing endorsements

- Edit Mode: is the other new in ps2, in these mode you can assemble new tracks.

- Nonstop and Audition mode: which require you to sing multiple songs without giving you time to catch your breath.
