This is the story of three heroes. Rudy is a young man from a quiet village who possesses the secret of ARMS, a forbidden technology. He is expelled from his home for using this power to defeat a monster. Jack is a careless treasure hunter who roams caves and ruins with his trusty friend, the blue rodent Hanpan. Cecilia is a young princess who was sent to a magician school to study the lore of magic. She has the ability to communicate with ancient powerful beings called the Guardians. The three heroes meet each other and embark on a journey to save the world of Filgaia from a grave danger.

"Wild Arms Alter Code: F" is a remake of the original Wild Arms for Playstation. The basic gameplay premise remained the same: you participate in random turn-based battles, using attacks, special magic unique to each character, and other abilities (such as summoning Guardians). In dungeons there are many physical and environmental puzzles to solve. The remake features fully 3D graphics, changes and more detail in the design of many locations, and a new party to control. In the original, only Rudy, Jack, and Cecilia were available as playable characters. In the remake, several other characters can be taken into your party and even switched during the same battle.

In addition to the three original characters - Cecila the princess, Jack the swordsman and Rudy the gunslinger, players may also recruit Calamity Jane Maxwell, Magdalen Harts and Professor Emma Hetfield for a party of six. During the game, trios of characters may be split into two cadres - one which battles foes and the second which rests and rebuilds life force if they are injured. World exploration takes place in realtime 3-D and encounters are shown in nicely rendered action sequences where monsters and heroes face off in turn-based fashion.

Other enhancements over the original Wild Arms include completely redrawn graphics by artist Wakako Ooba, a new soundtrack from Michiko Naruke and character voices performed by professional voice actors.

PLOT:
A thousand years before the events of Wild Arms, a war raged between the inhabitants of Filgaia and the Metal Demons seeking to turn the planet into their new home. After a fierce struggle, the humans managed to capture the demon's leader, "Mother", and sealed her deep within a castle in the tundra of Arctica. Unable to completely destroy her constantly regenerating body, the people of Arctica removed her heart and tore it into three pieces, imprisoned her within a cocoon, and sealed the pieces of her heart inside three stone statues which they spread across the world. With their leader gone, a majority of the demons disappeared, with only a few remaining in seclusion over the next few centuries, eventually launching an attack on the castle to reclaim the incapacitated body of Mother.

Succeeding in their mission, a small band of demon warriors known as the Quarter Knights kept watch over the body of Mother in their fortress protected behind a powerful force field, and began gathering information as to the whereabouts of the guardian statues with the hope of one day reviving her and claiming Filgaia as their own. As time passed, talk of the ancient invasion began to dwindle, though stories of demonic weaponry such as "ARM" guns and robotic soldiers still persisted in the minds of many. When a mysterious child named Rudy drifted into the small town of Surf, he came with an ARM at his side. Though he is able to hide it for a time his ARM makes him into a pariah after he is involved with a disastrous earthquake.

Features:
An enhanced remake of the 1997 PlayStation original
Lead up to six party members across the dying world of Filgaia
The original's "super-deformed" art style gives way to a more realistic look
New puzzles, plot developments, and other surprises await RPG fans
An estimated 60 hours of gameplay
