The occult-themed Persona series makes its PlayStation 2 debut with a distinctive visual style that closely mirrors Japanese anime. Once again the setting is high school, where a group of special teenagers band together to fight enemies after hours by tapping into the demon personas lurking within. Parties of up to four characters can freely explore their 3D environment, but only one, the lead protagonist, is controllable during combat. Battles are initiated by approaching the onscreen enemies, with turn-based attacks involving swords, bows, and personas available to eliminate the opposition.

Each enemy type has a particular weakness against certain elements, and players will be able to outfit their character with more powerful weapons and persona types by collecting cards at the end of each battle. Persona 3 features a day-night cycle that has players focusing on building relationships with fellow classmates and tending to schedules or hobbies during the day, while exploring an alternate dimension at night.

Each visit to this dimensional portal offers hundreds of randomly generated floors, but players have a limited amount of time to explore them before having to return to their academic studies. "FES" is meant to indicate "Festival," according to translations of comments made by director Katsura Hashino. Released in North America about eight months after the original, the "FES" edition of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 includes an enhanced version of the original game along with expansion pack material that adds a new episode, boasting 30 more hours of role-playing adventure complete with its own story, cut-scenes, and musical score.

PLOT:
In Persona 3, the player takes the role of a male high-school student who joins the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad (SEES), a group of students investigating the Dark Hour, a time period between one day and the next that few people are aware of. During the Dark Hour, the player enters Tartarus, a large tower containing Shadows, creatures that feed on the minds of humans. To fight the Shadows, each member of SEES is able to summon a Persona, a manifestation of a person's inner self. The game's most iconic feature is the method by which the members of SEES release their Personas: by firing a gun-like object called an Evoker at their head.

Features:
* Includes the original Persona 3 with added content
* Features new Personas, events, and a hard play mode
* Experience an all-new chapter entitled "The Answer," offering an estimated 30+ hours of play

  MANUFACTURER'S DESCRIPTION:

Lead a group of high school students with a dangerous extracurricular activity: exploring the mysterious tower Tartarus and fighting the sinister Shadows during the Dark Hour, a frozen span of time imperceptible to all but a select few. However, the end of their quest is no longer the end of the story-witness for the first time the aftermath of the final battle and the students' struggle to find meaning in their new lives.

* More than just an expansion - Persona 3 FES contains an enhanced version of the original game, loaded with new Personas and cutscenes, a weapon synthesis system, additional quests and events, a hard difficulty mode, and the ability to change your characters' clothes.
* 30 additional hours of gameplay - Take the role of Aigis in a brand new Persona 3 episode that plays as a full game with an original story, extra cutscenes and objectives, and seventeen new music tracks.
