Yoshinoya is the largest chain of beef bowl (or gyudon) restaurants and one of the Japanese chains of fast food, which was established in Japan in 1899. Its motto is "Tasty, low-priced, and quick".] It has its headquarters in the Da Vinci Shinjuku Building in Shinjuku, Tokyo.
The decor in the video version of Yoshinoya looks fairly true to life with a simple counter area for customers to sit down at and steaming bowls of food.
You're one of four employees at Yoshinoya , two are avaliables from the start and the other two are unlockables characters Your objective is to serve customers and make them happy. These customers will walk up to the counter, place an order, and you have to fill it in a reasonable amount of time.
The orders are represented by the PS2 face buttons, so to fill it you just need to walk to the customer and press the button that is displayed. If there are people next to the customer which have the same order, then you can chain them together with the same button. If you take too long or give them the wrong order, they get mad and leave, thus impacting your rating. In addition, there are also lunch times, in which a swarm of customers will run in and you'll have to be fast to fill all the ordersThe gameplay is very similar to the cñassic arcade game Tapper-
Bosses who appear to be beef bowl connoisseurs appear after each successfully completed stage. These overly demanding customers have special needs and beef bowls have to be prepared according to their specifications or they simply won't be satisfied.
Each location is divided up into three stages. Each stage has an objective, such as serve a certain amount of customers or get a high chain. After you complete the stages, a troublesome customer will arrive (the "boss"), and you'll have to prepare the food perfectly. This is done through a variety of events, such as mashing a button or timing a meter. It's a fun little way to add variety to the game. Once you complete all the stages, your manager promotes you to a new and bigger location with more counter space for customers and more difficult objectives.
The game has six locations and. there's a free mode in which you choose a location and try to get a high score (which is recorded),
There are some extras in the game which include a detailed history of Yoshinoya and a quiz game with questions related to the chain.
