Unlike earlier games in the series, Shining Force Neo is an action RPG, with real-time battles against as a many as 90 on-screen opponents at once. Between battles, strategically inclined players can contemplate character development, choosing from 40 different "force art" powers and more than 60 customizable weapons.
The game features voice acting throughout the story, and the player's party may eventually include as many as a dozen characters. The character design and cut scenes were contributed by Studio 4C, which features artists who worked on the internationally acclaimed feature films, Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away.
STORY:
Max completes his Force military training and returns to his village to meet his family and to find news of his missing brother. Later, the village is attacked by monsters later suspected as remnants of the Legion as well as the appearance of a mysterious figure that seems to know of his brother. This reasons compel Max to seek out the Legion threat, hoping in the process to also find his missing brother.
GAMEPLAY:
Shining Force: Neo is a 3rd person perspective "hack-and-slash" RPG. You play Max as the main character and have a maximum of 2 NPC's (out of 11 available) in your group to help you in your mission.
Max and his group later develop "Force" abilities, enabling RPG character development into either a Fighter or Mage type character. Items (weapons, armor, etc.) can also be customized (Force Arts).
The players later in the game will also be able to teleport from certain areas to their HQ in the beginning town.
