Final Approach is a visual novel that has been adapted into an anime designed by Ibe Yukiko. The title uses the Greek letter F (phi) to represent to the "fi" in the Japanese transliteration of the English word "final". The series of half-length episodes aired in Japan in October 2004 (back-to-back with W~Wish, a separate series), with the last episode ending a few months later.
A PS2 adaptation of the series was exclusively released in Japan during January 2006. A sequel with different characters, called Finalist, has been released a year later, where each of the female characters was designed by different character artists.
Final Approach 2 - 1st Priority: After his mother died, Kodama Makoto went to live under the care of his mother's friend. One night of Valentines day, an idol Annacame to announce that she is going to be engaged to Makoto. This is the starting point of a slapstick comedic adventure game.
However, this is not your usual game where the innocent protagonist aim to capture the girl of his dreams. In fact, Makoto is hardly your average innocent hero, and Anna is, in someways, a victim of a conspiracy to get Makoto and Anna married. Of course the two young people are against this decision, but under all sorts of pressure, they have to succumb and live together. To make things even more complicated, Makoto's sister, who has been living abroad all these years came home to live with them. This in turn provoked Makoto's neighbor and at the end even his old girlfriend gets involved.
On that night of Valentines day Makoto's fate was linked with more girls than he can manage, and at the end, can he put the end to that conspiracy?
Or will he be too happy living his new life that he give up his efforts altogether? That is for you to decide on White Day.
Final Approach 2 is an adventure game in the traditional Japanese style. You play as your average high school student who, one lonely Valentine's Day, meets a girl called Shizuka Masuda. You suddenly find yourself involved with a number of girls, including Shizuka, your childhood friend, your classmate, a girl from your part time job and even your little sister who's gotten so close to you since your parents' death that the two of you are almost a couple! Will you manage to get a true Valentine's Day chocolate from one of these girls next year? As with most games in the genre, conversations with characters are multiple-choice-based, with different outcomes and endings.
