Tokyo Majin Gakuen - Kaihoujyou Kefurokou (aka Tokyo Majin Gakuen Gehocho: Keppuroku): is a video game upgrade of Tokyo Majin Gakuen Gehocho re-released for the PlayStation 2 platform in 2004. The remake released with a companion book on Norse Mythology and character information.
The game is based on the Tokyo Majin Gakuen franchise. Like all of the other video games in the series, it was never released outside of Japan.
It is the Bakumatsu era in Japan - 1860-ies, the time when the feudal rulers of Japan, the dynasty of Tokugawa shoguns, were continuously suffering under the attacks of rebelling groups that wished to end the Tokugawa reign and to restore the Empire. Young people all over Japan united into clans and organizations, wishing to conquer the power in the capital city Edo. At that time - - according to this game - divine and demonic creatures also started gaining power.
You, the protagonist of the game (who also happens to be the ancestor of Tatsuma Hiyuu, the main hero of earlier Tokyo Majin games), can join either the forces of Light or the forces of Shadow (deriving from the Chinese concepts Yang and Yin, respectively). Once you complete the game as one of the sides, you can unlock a third group you can replay the game with. Beside participating in conflicts among various political and demonic organizations within Japan, you also come into contact with the gods from Nordic mythology - Odin, Freia, Loki, and others, who are also interested in what is happening in the Far East.
According to the tradition of Tokyo Majin games, this is an adventure/strategy RPG hybrid. In the adventure mode, you talk to characters and give you answers to them by selecting one of the nine "emotions": love, friendship, joy, agreement, sorrow, anger, indecision, scorn, and ignorance. The answers determine your relationships with the characters in the game and also alter the story progression. In battle mode, your party fights on isometric battle screens, moving around the battlefield and attacking when enemy is in rage.
The limited first edition includes a "Majin" desktop accessory disk.
