Dating sims (or dating simulations) are a video game subgenre of simulation games, usually Japanese, with romantic elements. They are also sometimes put under the category of neoromance. The most common objective of dating sims is to date, usually choosing from among several characters, and to achieve a romantic relationship.
The technical definition of a dating simulation game, known as a romantic simulation game in Japan, can involve several technical elements such as a time limit, several statistics such as looks and charm which can be boosted through exercise, or an "attraction meter" which can increase or decrease depending on one's decisions.
Hatsukoi Valentine is a dating simulation game in which the player controls a teenage that returns to his home town and is the freshman in a high school where he finds his childhood friend (that now is a beatiful teenage girl).
The game's goal is to get a date for valentine's day with one of the game's girls (if is with his childhood friend is better) and to do that the player have to talk to the characters during each week to get a better relationship, going out in date with the girls and improve his characters stats doing different things during the week (study, running, work to get more money, etc).
The player can also buy the girls different presents using the money he earns in his job.
The game features different endings and japanese voice acting.
