Colin McRae Rally 2.0 gives you the option of driving a 350,000 pound sports machine in Rally and Arcade driving modes. Rally mode offers timed point-to-point racing stages with Championship, Single Rally, Single Stage, Time Trial and Challenge gameplay options.

Acting as a Season mode, the Championship serves up a realistic dose of rally racing; you'll take on various opponents through eight stages of rally racing. If you can out-position your opponents, you'll take home the championship crown! While Single Rally gives you the option of choosing which rally to race (each rally is split into a different country), the Single Stage has you playing through any given stage. Racing against the clock, the Time Trial mode has you competing against your fastest lap times. Finally, the Challenge offers head-to-head special stage rallies in a knockout-based tournament.

Arcade mode provides competitions against five opponents on any given track. It incorporates two gameplay options: the Championship, Single Race and Time Trial modes. Championship is a heated competition against five opponents spanning three tracks. The Single Race is much like the Championship mode, only the competition spans a single track instead of three. Almost exactly like it's Rally counterpart, Time Trial has you competing against the clock and your best times.

While there are initially six vehicles available (13 in all), you can unlock quite a few by progressing through the Arcade and Rally modes. Vehicles include the Ford Focus, Subaru Impreza, Toyota Corolla, Mitsubishi Lancer, Peugeot 206, and the SEAT Cordoba. Colin McRae Rally 2.0 also features a Service Area option that allows players to repair vehicular damage and setup individual cars precisely to their liking.

Colin McRae Rally 2.0 features five camera views, an update/create new driver profile option, three difficulty options and language settings. There are also more than 90 courses set throughout the game's eight geographical locations. Progress can be saved to any PlayStation memory card, including rally standings, high scores and fastest laps. Also features are two-player split-screen duals and four-player race..
