This Is Football is a football (soccer) video game series of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) by London Studio. It first appeared on the PlayStation in 1999.

This is Football started Sony's soccer / football series, which aims for a realistic game with lots of control modes. Offsides and fouls are both optional. Controls include slide tackles, one-touch passing and sprint turns.

The game is fully endorsed by FIFPro, and therefore features real 5000 players and their facial likenesses, 230 real clubs, and stadiums from all across Europe. 20 different tournaments are included.

 WITH THE BALL CONTROLS:
  Move character:  D-Pad or Left Analog Stick
  Pass the ball to a teamate -  X Button
  Do a big kick in the direction you are going -  Circle Button
  Shoot the ball, hold down to set the power -  Square Button
  Use this button to knock the ball in front of you and get a little speed burst, if someone tackles you when you don't have the ball, it's a free kick -  Triangle Button
  Foot over ball -  L1 Button
  Special -  R1 Button
  Move the ball to your left -  L2 Button
  Move the ball to your right -  R2 Button
  Pause game -  Start Button

 WITHOUT THE BALL CONTROLS:
  Move character:  D-Pad or Left Analog Stick
  A normal, quick tackle with your feet, this doesn't hurt them -  X Button
  A sliding pass tackle/Hook tackle. It tackles and does kind of a pass while tackling -  Circle Button
  A sliding tackle, also used to knock over the opposistion, it inflicts some injury, but if you get the opposition if they haven't got the ball, at worst it could be a RED card -  Square Button
  Press repeatively for a spead burst -  Triangle Button
  Retain Player Orientation -  L1 Button
  Special -  R1 Button
  Hold down to make your keeper come out -  L2 Button
  When the ball is in the air and is about to reach you header the ball in the desired direction -  X Button + D-Pad
  When the ball is in the air and is about to reach you header shot or little header or Bicycle -  Square + D-Pad
  Change your player -  R2 Button
  Pause game -  Start Button
