MTV Sports Skateboarding featuring Andy McDonald is the first game from the MTV Sports line, and like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, it combines real elements of the sport with fantastic tricks and parks that would be impossible to recreate in real life.

The game features a mix of real professional boarders and fantasy characters, and highlights venues from around the world. Every character has the same set of tricks, but they have different stats when it comes to attributes such as balance and jump height. The levels have a number of different goals for players to accomplish, but the only true way to pass a level is to rank high in a judging that takes place at the end of the run.

Along with the standard bunch of tricks it brings to the table, MTV Sports Skateboarding features an extended system for flat land tricks, allowing for the possibility of even larger combos. There are a number of different game modes, including career, multiplayer and training modes, as well as a high score mode and an Icon Mode where you must find hidden MTV icons before time runs out. The soundtrack contains music from the likes of The Deftones, Cypress Hill, and Pennywise.
