NCAA Football 2000 continues EA Sports' successful line of college football games with all 114 Division I-A schools and 26 from Division I-AA ready to indulge in the sweetness of a national championship won at the 2000 Nokia Sugar Bowl.
As with past offerings, you have the ability to guide your favorite team through an entire season, even establishing a dynasty in which you take control of recruiting for future seasons. (But be sure to live up to your own hype. A poor performance means the pink slip.) Your ultimate goal is to lead your team to a national championship by winning either the Sugar Bowl or a tournament, whichever you decide.
Your 3D, polygon-rendered players are identified by number and, in addition to the size and skin color of their real-life counterparts, have abilities consistent with 1998 statistics. The create-a-player feature returns, granting you the power to develop your own players as you determine such factors as size, playing ability and name.
NCAA Football 2000's new features don't stop with adding to the 112 schools found in the previous year's version. If you can't decide on a team from the 140 provided, just create your own! Its name and nickname, offensive and defensive abilities, team colors, stadium style, playing surface type, end zone surface, student-body size and location are all yours to decide. Represent your new school with a multitude of logos and 10 generic fight songs to choose from (or just steal one of the 60 official ones belonging to other schools).
Other notable new additions include coaching tips, 23 bowls (up from four), the ability to edit new plays, and the official Heisman Trophy award, one of many honors awarded at season's end. Also, those who enjoy reliving memorable past games now have 40 to choose from, the most ever.
