Lemmings is a puzzle-platformer video game originally developed for the Amiga by DMA Design and published by Psygnosis in 1991.
The basic objective of the game is to guide a group of humanoid lemmings through a number of obstacles to a designated exit. In order to save the required number of lemmings to win, one must determine how to assign a limited number of eight different skills to specific lemmings that allow the selected lemming to alter the landscape, to affect the behavior of other lemmings, or to clear obstacles in order to create a safe passage for the rest of the lemmings.
The original Lemmings has been remade for the PSP, with new graphics. In this puzzle game, you guide a group of lemmings through increasingly complex levels. The creatures cannot be controlled directly, but you can assign skills to them, such as diving, bashing, building... to make them reach the end of the level unharmed.
This Playstation 2 version of Lemmings is a port of the PSP version released earlier in 2006. The main difference is the optional use of the EyeToy camera as a direct way to influence the gameplay. The player has to stretch his/her limbs in the recorded picture to help the Lemmings. There are 20 new levels which specifically utilize this new control method.
The player's duty still consists of driving Lemmings, mindless beings, from the start of each level to the end of it. Various commands can or need to be given to the Lemmings. Of course a minimum quantity of Lemmings is requested to be brought to the end of the level safe, extra ones saved will lead to a reward in terms of score.
