Japan in the1500's, the power of the samurai class is fading and the use of the Ninja has become necessary to hold any political power in this chaotic time. Kurenai a young girl who’s world is destroyed when she and her father are attacked by the deadly Black Lizard Clan, who captures her and brutally hangs her by a wire and left to die. Miraculously, she survives and is rescued and adopted into a clan where she obtains complete mastery of her unique weapon, the wire. Kurenai has pledged her undying loyalty to her new family. She now lives to avenge her father’s death and will go to any means necessary to destroy the Black Lizard Clan.
Kurenai specializes in the use of a weapon ironically fashioned from the very wire that the Black Lizard raiders intended to be her doom. The wire weapon can be equipped with different attachments that affect its speed, length, and damage. The vengeful kunoichi can make use of many other skills and devices as well, however, from acrobatics and stealth tactics to seduction and explosives. She is driven through the adventure by one desire -- to find the Black Lizard Clan and destroy it, avenging her father's death.
"Red Ninja" is an action game with stealth elements. The primary weapon Kurenai uses is the deadly tetsugen. During the game you'll learn to perform new moves with this weapon. You can also use other weapons, such as a blowgun and throwing knives. Kurenai can jump, hang from ledges, and roll. There is a fair amount of platform-like sequences where she will have to demonstrate her acrobatic ninja technique. An effective way to kill enemies is to use stealth. Kurenai can approach enemies silently and hide behind objects. She can also "seduce" enemies, by talking to them in a sexy way and luring them to their death - a move that doesn't always work.
