Out Run is an arcade game released by Sega in 1986. It was designed by Yu Suzuki and developed by Sega AM2. The game was a critical and commercial success, becoming one of the best-selling video games of its time and winning the Golden Joystick Award for Game of the Year.[ It is notable for its innovative hardware (including a moving cabinet), pioneering graphics and music, innovative features such as offering the player choices in both soundtrack and non-linear routes, and its strong theme of luxury and relaxation. In retrospective interviews, Yu Suzuki has classified Out Run not as a racing game, but as a "driving" game.
In 1986, Sega gave arcade dwellers a thrill with a rip-roaring (for its time) racing game filled with undulating roads, forks, and flipping crashes where the driver and his gal pal rise up with nary a scratch. Yu Suzuki crafted the original and returns 18 years later to provide input on the Sega Ages remake. Updated courses, lengthy highway stretches, and bright new scenery provide a dazzling video panorama to drive along to. Similar to all other Sega Ages remakes for the PS2, notes are included inside the game packaging which recounts details of the game from Yu Suzuki, game history, and other goodly stuff for enclosure in your Sega Ages 2500 binder.
