Sugar Sugar Rune or Sugarē Rune is a manga by Moyoco Anno and an anime TV series based upon it. The anime series' time slot was replaced by Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z in mid-2006.
PLOT:
In the Magical World, the future queen is chosen by selecting two young witches and sending them to the Human World, where they'll compete to capture the hearts of boys. Whoever has collected the most by the end of the compitition is crowned queen.
This generation's Queen Candidates are best friends and polar opposites Vanilla Mieux and Chocolat Meilleure, the daughters of the current queen and her former competitor (respectively). They're aided by their assigned mentor and guardian, pop idol witch Rockin' Robin, and their two animal familiars, Blanca the mouse and Duke the frog.
But the girls have more to deal with than just competing for hearts at school. There's something off about the cold, mysterious middle school boy Pierre - and he seems to be targeting Chocolat. Now, both trapped within their own new goals, the two witches must fight their way and retain a friendship which no magic can defeat.
Sugar Sugar Rune - Koimo Osharemo Pick-Up is based on Anno Moyoco's Sugar Sugar Rune manga, your goal in this game adaptation is to turn Chocola Meilleure and Vanilla Myu into witches worthy of the title Queen of the Demon Kingdom. Prior to their heading out for the day, you'll have to dress the two as you see fit, your goal being to make them win the hearts of all the boys at school. While working on romancing the boys, you'll make them engage in stretches and prepare their hair for the following day. The game includes over 10 boys, including a few original creations.
The full title is Sugar Sugar Rune: Pick Up Love & Fashion and it is based on the Sugar Sugar Rune manga/anime. In the Magical World all Queens are selected by sending two young girls to our world and having them compete for the hearts of boys. She with the most hearts is the new queen (of hearts). Vanilla Mieux and Chocolat Meilleure are the daughters of the previous queen competitors (Queen Candy and Witch Cinnamon). They are helped by a mentor and guardian witch named Rockin Robin. And each has a familiar: Blanca (mouse) and Duke (frog). It isn't all as simple as going to school and flirting though, there is the danger of King Glace and a boy named Pierre who resembles him an awful lot.
Aside from decorating your room you can also gain new clothing and accessories. Each day you make sure the girls are groomed (hair brushing, styling, etc.), stylishly dressed, and well-exercised before sending them off to school. Each of the ten boys will have a different attitude though looking her best is paramount for the would-be queen's success. Each boy's heart changes color and different colors have a different meaning and value. Yellow is surprise, Orange is infatuation, Red is passion and so on. Every item you equip (and combination of) makes a difference in how the boys will react. Going out at different times (or on holidays as opposed to normal days) also effects who (or what) you might encounter, and encounters may lead to special items or mood changes. There are different tasks to accomplish which may help you with your mood or with one (or more) of the boys that involve planting or watering flowers or even getting your fortune told. And you must balance out each day so that you have time to eat or bathe. It is a very colorful and cute game and the graphics are a pleasant fusion of 2D portraits and map with some 3D models and environments.
