Fans of the original Klonoa for the PS can set forth in a new adventure on a new system with this release of Klonoa 2: Lunatea's Veil. The endearing long-eared feline hero and the style of play introduced in his first adventure have been updated to make use of the enhanced processing power and graphical capabilities of Sony's 128-bit PlayStation 2 console. Billed as a "3D dramatic action" game, this second release follows the lead of the original by offering action-oriented gameplay accented with cut-scenes and interludes that add atmosphere and advance the storyline.
Klonoa, our floppy-eared hero, along with his two newly found buddies, Lolo and Popka, have to foil a sinister force which is causing a mire of gloom to plague the land of Lunatea. By ringing the four bells across the land, Klonoa can restore harmony, but the Sky Pirate Leorina is in hot pursuit, after Klonoa's magic ring...
In this adventure, the hero finds himself in a strange, unfamiliar dream world, darker and more dangerous than the realm of his first outing. Although the game world is rendered in full 3D, the camera often follows the hero from an angle tangential to his set path, providing a familiar feel reminiscent of a traditional 2D platformer. Klonoa must traverse many new levels full of tricky jumps, platform puzzles, and goofy bad guys in a classic effort to set right the disrupted balance of the universe. As before, Klonoa can flap his long ears to temporarily float in the air and a magic ring allows him to lasso enemies and toss them away. He'll be well served by both of these special abilities as he makes his way through this sequel.
