Creepy creatures, surreal environments, and ghost-busting photography skills return in this third chapter of Tecmo's Fatal Frame survival horror series. The story in The Tormented revolves around a guilt-burdened young woman named Rei Kurosawa, who suffers recurring nightmares involving a mysterious tattoo. The adventure takes place in two different realms -- the "real" world, and the world of Rei's disturbing dreams.

Once again, a camera is the weapon of choice against other-worldly entities, and it can also be used to collect important, plot-developing information. In addition to Rei, two other playable characters are available: Kei Amakura, an ambitious young journalist, and Miku, the heroine of the original Fatal Frame. Players are challenged to choose the best suited character for each mission.
